After a horrendous winter you'd think Britain would be set for a wonderful summer with sunshine and heat. But forecasters have predicted the British summer will be wet and unsettled - no change there then! Fortunately this gives us enough time to plan a great escape and head for drier and sunnier climes.

Leon Brown, meteorologist at The Weather Channel, says south and southeast Europe will enjoy the best heat this summer. As there is such a huge choice of hotspots, ranging from Sicily to Croatia's islands, we've rounded up the top beach and city destinations in southern Europe and asked Leon exactly what kind of weather we can expect in these places.
