Yahoo Finance 21 new COVID cases in Singapore, all imported
SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 21 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore on Thursday (8 April), taking the country's total case count to 60,575.
All new cases are imported. "Amongst the new cases today, 18 are asymptomatic, and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance, while three were symptomatic," said the MOH.
Among the 21 imported cases, five are Singaporeans and one is a permanent resident who returned from India and the US. Thursday's two symptomatic cases are both Singaporeans, a 51-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, who arrived from India.
Three others are student's pass holders who arrived from India, while two cases are work pass holders who arrived from India and the Maldives.
Nine cases are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Ukraine, of whom three are foreign domestic workers.
The remaining case is a 40-year-old male short-term visit pass holder, Thursday's third symptomatic case, who arrived from the Philippines for a work project here.
All 21 imported cases were placed on the stay-home notice upon their arrival here and were tested while serving the notice.
The MOH noted that the number of new cases in the community has decreased from three in the week before to two in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from three in the week before to two in the past week.

99% of total cases have recovered, 1 in ICU
With 24 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Thursday, 60,284 cases – or 99.5 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 43 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while one of them is in the intensive care unit.
A total of 218 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Apart from the 30 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
Amongst the 168 confirmed cases reported from 2 to 8 April, 67 cases have tested positive for their serology tests, 74 have tested negative, and 27 serology test results are pending.
