Pedestrian dead after DC bus briefly hijacked
A Washington, DC, Metrobus was briefly hijacked Tuesday morning after the driver was threatened with a tool, NBC Washington reports. A pedestrian was struck by the hijacked vehicle and was pronounced dead.
Initial reports had stated that the hijacker was in fact multiple juveniles who had stabbed the driver with a screwdriver. These reports were corrected by the DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier in a press briefing.
Lanier described the incident as "bizarre," noting that the entire event took place in under three minutes.
The suspect is in police custody.
