4 Non-US Mutual Funds for Spectacular Returns

Investors looking to diversify across a wide range of foreign countries including both emerging and developed nations can consider non-U.S. mutual funds. These are excellent choices for those who prefer funds that invest in companies based in foreign markets to those with significant domestic exposure.

Buffalo International Fund BUFIX invests a bulk of its assets in equity securities issued by recognized companies that are economically tied to different countries all over the world, excluding the United States. BUFIX may invest directly or indirectly in non-U.S. securities of developed as well as developing countries. The fund seeks capital growth for the long run. Buffalo International Fund has three-year annualized returns of 11.5%.

As of December 2018, BUFIX held 81 issues, with 2.89% of its assets invested in Kering SA.

T. Rowe Price Japan PRJPX seeks capital appreciation in the long run by investing the majority of its assets in securities of companies based in Japan. PRJPX invests in various Japanese companies and industries, irrespective of their size. T. Rowe Price Japan has three-year annualized returns of 12.6%.

Archibald A. Ciganer has been the fund manager of PRJPX since 2013.

Fidelity International Capital Appreciation FIVFX primarily invests in securities of foreign companies including those that operate in emerging markets. FIVFX seeks growth of capital for the long run. It measures the industry’s position as well as financial and market condition of each company before selecting investments. The fund focuses on acquiring securities of companies from different countries. Fidelity International Capital Appreciation fund has three-year annualized returns of 9.4%.

As of September 2017, FIVFX held 173 issues, with 1.64% of its assets invested in Tencent Holdings Ltd.

John Hancock Funds 2 International Value NAV JHVIX seeks long-term growth of capital by investing in equity securities of businesses that are located outside the United States. The fund also invests in American Depositary Receipts, Global Depositary Receipts and European Depositary Receipts that are certificates issued by a trust company or a bank that give right to their holders to receive securities issued by a U.S. or non-U.S. company. JHVIX has three-year annualized returns of 9.3%.

JHVIX has an expense ratio of 0.85% compared with the category average of 1.15%.
