49ers' Raheem Mostert records fastest speed in five years on 80-yard TD run

Hey, Raheem, where’s the fire?

San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert wasted no time Sunday registering the highest speed the NFL’s Next Gen Stats has recorded in five years, cruising at an insane 23.1 miles per hour en route to an 80-yard touchdown run against the New York Jets.

Mostert later left the game with a knee injury.

The romp came on the first play from scrimmage. It helps that no Jets defender laid a paw on him. Mostert clearly can burn.

And that’s two straight weeks where Mostert has been moving faster than anyone else.

In fact, he had two of the three fastest times recorded in Week 1. Interestingly, the fastest time recorded in the entire 2019 season was from Matt Breida, the man whom Mostert replaced as the 49ers’ back after Breida was dealt to the Miami Dolphins this offseason.

And this score put Mostert into the history books for non-speed reasons, too.

But the bad news is that Mostert joined a growing list of injured 49ers players, not coming out of the locker room to start the second half with a reported knee injury.
