5 Fast Facts: 2015 Jaguar XK
Jaguar ended production of its XK premium sporty car with the 2015 model year, though a few new units can still be found at dealerships if you’re willing to track them down. There has been speculation about a 2017 model, but it is unlikely.
Below are five fast facts about the 2015 Jaguar XK:
1) The XK series, known as a grand touring car, began production as a coupe and convertible in 1996. The XKR trim level was featured in the 2002 James Bond film, “Die Another Day.” In 2015, Jaguar sold or leased 884 XKs in the United States, and the model was the second-best seller in its high-end segment after the Mercedes-AMG GT, according to sales data collected by J.D. Power.
2) The Jaguar XK has a classic oval grille and all-aluminum body plus some high-tech features, including driver-assistance systems and sensors for parking and a rear camera. Bluetooth connectivity and satellite radio are included.
3) Three trim levels include base XK, XKR, and upscale XKR-S. All are available as coupe or convertible/roadster variants. The XKR offers more technology such as a parallel parking system, hands-free tailgate, and a rearview camera. The XKR-S features a tuned adaptive suspension system, limited-slip differential, and a sport steering wheel plus sport exhaust.
4) The last XK is powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that generates 385 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. For extreme performance, the XKR-S features a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 that produces 550 horsepower and 502 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are mated with a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. This performance 2-seater only comes in rear-wheel drive (RWD). Jaguar claims that the XK can reach a limited top speed of 155.4 mph.
5) LED running lights; 18-in. wheels; automatic dual-zone climate control; adjustable, heated/cooled leather seating; tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel; adaptive Xenon headlights; fog lamps; and a high-end Bowers & Wilkins 525-watt audiophile system are standard features.
