Remember how you used to hate nap time as a kid? If I could go back in time and meet my younger self, I would tell her to cherish those cat naps with every inch of her being — while also telling her not to get bangs. Now, I would give pretty much anything to have daily naps scheduled. I’m likely not alone in this wish, especially with the hectic energy of 2020.

Truth is, we spend a third of our lives sleeping. That’s 26 years of sleep for the average person, and an additional 7 years spent trying to fall asleep. That’s right, a whole 7 years!

I’d say it’s about time that we take back our beauty sleep. Simply put, we’re all tired of being tired.

Over the past few months, I’ve completely reinvented my sleep routine by adding a few amazing accessories to my bedroom. Check out these five items I swear by to help you fall asleep faster — and sleep more deeply. You can finally get the rest you need (and get back to dreaming about Michael B. Jordan).

Spray your pillow with mist

Shop: OSEA Vagus Nerve Pillow Mist, $32

I used to lie awake in my bed every night, trying (and failing) to turn my brain off. I felt a lot like my internet browser — 15 tabs were open, three were frozen and I had no idea where the music was coming from. Then, a good friend recommended that I try OSEA’s Vagus Nerve Pillow Mist. This magical potion is a vegan and gluten-free blend of essential oils like lavender, chamomile and lemon tea tree that help soothe your senses and allow for deeper sleep. I was a bit skeptical at first, but now I can’t imagine going to bed without misting my pillow and sheets. Not only does this pillow mist relax the body and the mind, but it also smells amazing. You’ll be catching those Zzz’s in no time.

Replace your sad, flat pillow

Shop: Pluto Pillow, $95+

A good pillow can do wonders for your sleep, especially if you wake up with a stiff neck, shoulder pain and backaches. Enter the custom Pluto Pillow, which is the pillow to end all pillows. I mean, just listen to me go on and on about it on You Need This. Pluto is a definite game-changer! Built to your preferences and sleeping habits, the brand’s pillows come designed just for you. Pluto even offers a 100-night money-back guarantee, so there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Upgrade your pajamas

Shop: Lunya Washable Silk Set, $178

If I could take one thing with me to a deserted island, it would definitely be this silk set from Lunya. OK, I might be exaggerating a bit, but I’m totally in love with Lunya’s PJs. Made from 100 percent silk, these sets are machine-washable and the most comfortable thing I have ever worn in my life. Silk is naturally thermoregulating, keeping you cool during the summer and snug and cozy in the winter. If you’re looking to upgrade your old college sweatshirt and ratty cotton shorts, this luxurious silk set will make you feel like the royalty you are.

Fall asleep to a sleep story from Harry Styles

Shop: Calm, $12.99/month or $69.99/year

Have a habit of scrolling through your Instagram before going to sleep? You’re not alone. Not only did doing so hurt my eyes, but the blue light from my phone really messed up my sleeping rhythm. That’s until I discovered Calm, which is the No. 1 app for meditation and sleep on the App Store. This app is my go-to for better sleep and less stress. Now, instead of staring at my smartphone, I’m practically jumping into bed so I can listen to Calm’s sleep stories. My current favorite is the story read by the mesmerizing Harry Styles, although Matthew McConaughey’s reading is a close second. You’ve undoubtedly heard about Calm about half a million times at this point, and it’s time to see what all the hype is about. Trust me when I say that Calm totally lives up to all of the reviews and accolades.

Relax with a weighted blanket

Shop: Gravity Blanket, $189

By far my favorite thing on this list comes in the form of the world’s most popular weighted blanket, which serves as a form of deep-pressure therapy proven to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. According to Gravity’s sleep study, 72 percent of people reported deeper, more restful sleep when using their weighted blanket. I’m not surprised at all. Using a Gravity blanket definitely helps me get the best possible rest and relaxation. It’s essentially like falling asleep in a big hug. And, let’s be real, I think we could all use a few of those right now.
