5 TikTok dishes you can totally make with popcorn

Popcorn isn’t just for movie night anymore! The crunchy treat has been popping up all over TikTok in creative recipes that range from savory snacks to decadent desserts. If you’re ready to hit play on an epic popcorn saga, here are five TikToks to get you started.

  1. Vegan popcorn-crusted caramel apples

This vegan take on a classic treat uses popcorn to add an extra crunch. The caramel is made from a mixture of almond butter, coconut oil, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and salt. Stick a whole apple on a wooden stick, smother it in your homemade caramel, and cover it in the popcorn of your choosing. After about 10 minutes in the freezer, take out your apple and dig in.

2. Popcorn-flavored frappuccino

If you love eating popcorn, you’ll probably love drinking popcorn! Fill a container with popcorn, and then pour in milk. Cover it in plastic wrap, and leave it in the fridge for two hours. You’ll be left with a delicious popcorn-flavored milk that’ll blow your mind! Shake it up with some ice and an espresso shot. Add caramel and whipped cream if you want some extra sweetness.

3. Popcorn caviar

Time to get a little fancy (and scientific)! This recipe creates “liquid popcorn” by steeping popcorn in sugar, water and butter for 10 minutes, and then straining out the solids. After blending the liquid, use plastic pipettes to transfer the popcorn liquid into a jar of cold oil, and watch as the liquid drops turn into caviar-like pearls!

4. Cake batter protein popcorn cups

Every day is your birthday with this protein-packed dessert! Mix popcorn with coconut oil and white chocolate chips, add protein powder and some sprinkles, and disperse into a muffin tin to chill in the fridge. It’s a celebratory treat that works just as well after the gym as it does at a birthday party.

5. Mac ‘n’ cheese popcorn

Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest ones. If you have a leftover cheese packet from a box of mac ‘n’ cheese (maybe because you decided to make your own), just dump the whole thing in a bag of popcorn, and shake it up until each kernel is covered in delicious powder. The powder is a great “cheese-oning” for both microwave and stovetop popcorn.
