Holby City spoilers follow.

Tonight's Holby City (May 18) saw Kian Madani left in a perilous situation as he went to drastic measures to protect Andrei. Meanwhile, Hanssen had a breakthrough and Fletch's daughter Evie unknowingly walked into trouble.

Here are all the questions we've been left with until next week:

1. Will Kian be okay?

Kian's web of lies grew all the more tangled tonight (May 18) as he risked everything to help his surrogate son Andrei.

Despite being involved in a high-stakes operation, Kian's focus became frayed by Andrei's latest plan.

When Andrei decided to resume the drug-smuggling to appease the menacing dealers, Kian ended up getting caught in the crossfire, and suffered a brutal attack. But will he be okay?

Thankfully, we can confirm that Kian does live to battle on another day, but his problems are far, far from over.

2. What now for Hanssen?

Holby aired a poignant moment in Hanssen's sad story tonight, as he finally decided to speak out about his turmoil.

Aware that Hanssen has been self-harming, Josh made another attempt to reach out to him, and promised that there was no shame in asking for help.

After a powerful heart to heart with Josh, Hanssen approached Lucky and began to open up about his struggles. But what's next for him?

3. Will Dom get the job?

Back to square one, Dom's frustration was palpable as he recovered from his latest surgery tonight. With no sympathy from his mum Ange, Dom realised he needed to get his act together, and started to contemplate what the future might hold for him now.

Keen to return to work, Dom later told Sacha that he was planning to apply for Hanssen's former job as a consultant.

Sacha assured Dom that he had his full support, but as we know, a further twist is about to turn everything on its head.

4. Has Evie made a dangerous new friend?

Fletch's daughter Evie was back on our screens tonight, with Phoebe French reprising her role again.

Evie was at the hospital for an interview at hospital cafe Pulses, but her day took an unfortunate turn when it collided with Andrei's chaos.

Unaware of the danger he is caught up in, Evie struck up a friendship with Andrei – but we already know this is something she could live to regret...

5. Is there a spark between Fletch and Jeni?

Holby has been teasing the idea of a romance between these two ever since Jeni (aka director of finance) was introduced earlier in the month. However, tonight's episode appeared to confirm that these two are heading for romance, but is all as it seems?

That remains to be seen, but, as we know, Fletch could have bigger things to contend with in the meantime.

6. What happens next?

Next week's episode will explore the fallout of Kian's beating, as he continues to risk everything for Andrei.

Meanwhile, Max's BRCA diagnosis will be revisited and Dom steps up to consultant level, but will all go to plan?

Holby City continues on Tuesday, May 25 at 7.50pm on BBC One.
