John Lewis reveals its top Christmas decorating trends for 2021
John Lewis & Partners has revealed its top Christmas decorating themes for 2021. The festive trends offer a celebration of British scenery, both urban and rural, with a generous dose of magic and whimsy.
'From windswept coastlines, to babbling rivers, the colours and feelings we discovered over the last year have inspired the looks we have created for the upcoming festive season,' says Jason Billings-Cray, Christmas Buyer. 'We know many of our customers have found the outdoors to be a tonic at a very strange time and that, even with the reopening of the world, this new love affair is here to stay.'
Last year, John Lewis opened its online Christmas shop in late August, 10 days earlier than the year before, after recording a 370 per cent year-on-year increase for Christmas searches online.
The retailer starts planning for Christmas over a year in advance to research and create its seven trends.

Inspired by the Scottish Highlands, its mountain wildlife and the dramatic snowy landscapes, Snow Mountain is a timeless colour scheme layered with warm neutrals, soft blue tones and silver.
The Gemstone Forest look is all about magical forests, mythical creatures and a fairytale-like landscape. The decorating scheme incorporates rich colours that can be found in the forest at twilight with accent brights giving this luxurious look a fun finish.
This Luxe City Christmas decorating trend is inspired by cities and their brilliant architecture. A contemporary theme, with a fashion forward colour palette, it plays on the geometry found in towering buildings and the warm glow of city lights.
Copper river is inspired by the river's natural stream of flowing water and it's wildlife such as trout, otters and kingfishers. The combination of copper and the varying blues of the water come together to create a serene but decadent look.

Inspired by pastoral landscapes, Festive Field is bursting with hedgerow creatures and homegrown produce. Traditional festive reds and gold are brought to life with plenty of green in the form of foliage.
