In current times the definition of a Father has steered in various directions. It is no longer restricted to “bread winner” or “man of the house” We always talk repeatedly of a “mother’s love” which very rightly said has no bounds, however, we mustn’t forget a “father’s strength”, the very strength that is a source of inspiration and determination for all of us.
So, this Father’s Day don’t hold back like how our fathers usually do, but express every ounce of emotion for not just your father but anyone who has been father like figure to you. Here’s counting down our best picks for you, from both the worlds - Hollywood and Bollywood.
1. Just the Two of Us – Will Smith
Who better to start this list of than the one and only Will Smith. Written in 1997, the actor puts his own spin to Bill Whiters classic, dedicating it to his oldest son.
2. A Song for Dad – Keith Urban
Written by the amazing country guitarist and singer Keith Urban, describing how important it is to appreciate our dads for everything that they have done after all they are just looking out for us
3. The Greatest Man I Never Knew – Reba McEntrie
This next song is a Father’s Day staple. With her extremely powerful and emotional voice, Reba McEntrie describes her bittersweet relationship with her dad.
4. Papa was a rolling stone – The Temptations
Funky, Jazzy and a “makes you want to dance, kind of a song” If that’s what your dad is into. Then this song is the one for him. Sung by hit American band – The Temptations, the song tells the story of a son who never knew his dad.
5. Daughters – John Mayer
Written by the world-famous blues – rock singer songwriter “John Mayer” This song is for all the overprotective dads out there (in a good way of course), who can never let go of their little princesses.
6. Papa Kehte Hai – Udit Narayan
No list is complete without this bollywood classic from the movie ‘Kayamat Se Kayamat Tak’. This simple yet super dramatic song can put a simple on any dad’s face, well mainly because at some point in our life our dads have definitely told this to us. From being played at schools/college farewell parties to annual family gathering this sing still holds a special place in everyone’s hearts.
7. Papa mere papa – Main Aisa Hi Hoon
Papa mere papa is a very sweet and emotional song depicting the beautiful relationship of a father and daughter. The heart touching song is in the melodious voice of Sonu nigam, Shreya Ghosal and Baby Aparna.
8. Akele Hum Akele Tum
Sung by the real-life father son duo – Udit Narayan and Aditya Narayan. This beautiful song depicts the strong bond between a single father and his son, played by actors Aamir khan and child artist Adil Rizvi.
