Jennifer Garner has one of the most relatable approaches to food in all of celeb land

If you’ve ever seen Jennifer Garner’s #PretendCookingShow on Instagram, you know the 49-year-old digs delicious meals, snacks, and desserts.

But it’s the way she approaches food—namely, with a great sense of humour and pure love—that we just love. Mainly because that's much like Jennifer's whole vibe.

She’s also not into super restrictive eating plans - which we're wholeheartedly here for. Of course, Jen eats well (the woman practically glows with good health) but she also seems to get that life just isn’t complete without a little chocolate bread or sweet potato pie in the mix.

If you don't follow Jennifer closely on her socials, know this: It’s clear that she’s all about facing life (and what’s happening in her kitchen) with a big smile on her face.

That's whether she's working her way through a breakup or accepting that her attempt at roasting sunflower seeds has just left her with really fancy feed for her backyard chickens.

But, with a busy acting career, kid food company Once Upon a Farm to run, and three kids to raise, how does Jennifer stay fuelled up and ready to go on the reg?

In summary: by eating the perfect combo of yummy treats and good-for-you stuff. (Seriously, her approach to eating is so much more doable and relatable than you’d think.)

Here’s what you need to know about Jennifer Garner’s diet and food philosophy - including the eats she enjoys on the reg

1. Jennifer Garner loves to bake.

Seriously, if you don't watch Jennifer's #PretendCookingShow on IG, you're missing out! Not only is it hilarious and a great way to discover new recipes, but Jen also shows off her range of baking talents. In fact, she's whipped up bagel bread, sweet potato pie, and ginger snaps, among other goodies.

2. And, yes, she eats what she makes, too.

JIC you were wondering...After one #PretendCookingShow, in which Jennifer makes cornbread with her mom, one commenter wrote, 'You bake such great sweets. Definitely not eating it tho. Always looking great.' Jen’s classy response? 'For sure eating it, I promise.'

3. She even grows some of her food.

Jennifer gave everyone a glimpse of her impressive backyard garden when she attempted—and totally failed at—making her own roasted sunflower seeds.

Not only does Jennifer have massive sunflowers growing back there, but she's also go pretty squash, rows of tomatoes, hearty cucumbers, and herbs for days.

Oh! And she also has chickens, so you know she’s getting some fresh eggs on a consistent basis.

4. Jennifer works with celebrity nutritionist Kelly LeVeque.

When she wants to get super fit for roles, Jennifer relies on celeb nutrition guru Kelly LeVeque. In case you’re not familiar with her, LeVeque preaches the power of the Fab Four, a.k.a. mixing protein, fat, fibre, and greens in every meal.

Jennifer worked with LeVeque to get lean and jacked for Peppermint, sharing on Instagram that she drank LeVeque’s Be Well Smoothie (which includes collagen, flax and chia seeds, almond butter, almond milk, spinach, and blueberries) 'every day for breakfast' while prepping.

Jennifer digs LeVeque’s approach so much, she’s kept it up post-Peppermint prep. 'I actually have really liked the diet, so I've stuck on it,' she told Wired.

5. She loves hearty, home-cooked classics

Jennifer low-key freaked out when she made TV chef Ina Garten’s famous crispy chicken under the Zoom guidance of the woman herself.

Jen's even talked up Ina’s cookbook, Modern Comfort Food, saying 'the cookbook that will fill your beaten-up soul with joy and reinvigorate your relationship with quarantine cooking.'

6. She indulges in a drink once in a while.

Speaking of Ina Garten, Jennifer said once in her #PretendCookingShow that she keeps Ina’s frozen Palomas in her freezer at all times.

She’s also shared Instagram posts of herself sipping wine while folding laundry, as one does.

7. She sometimes makes healthy subs when baking.

When Jen made her Grandma Exie’s sweet potato pie alongside her mum on Zoom, she shared that, while her mom used three cups of milk and two eggs, she made her version egg- and milk-free.

Yes to that adaptability,

8. Jennifer treats herself.

In an early-March 2020 episode of #PretendCookingShow, Jennifer shared that her son Samuel totally gave her crap for eating too much junk food.

'He said to me yesterday, "Mom, you have had too much candy! It’s time to stop,"' she relayed. 'Well, that’s too big, when a kid can tell you you’ve had too much candy.'

So, she decided to make soft pretzels instead. Pure genius. Keep up the good work, JG!
