Coventry City owner Sisu Capital posts £272,000 loss

Sisu Capital, the secretive Mayfair hedge fund run by Joy Seppela, has posted results that are in a similar league to those of the Championship football club it owns.

The owner of Coventry City registered a loss before tax of £272,000, a slight improvement on last year's figure of £376,000. The figures were not helped by a £161,000 tax bill Sisu had to pay after an HMRC inquiry into previous tax years.

Sisu Capital, run by US-Finnish financier Ms Seppela and her business partner Dermot Coleman, bought Coventry City in December 2007.

According to reports, the investment firm has already put £25m into the club since it made its initial investment. That investment had to be supplemented with a multi-million-pound cash injection in March this year to stop the club from falling into administration. The club finished 18th in the Championship last season.
