ABC1

A system of demographic classification which defines consumers according to their social and economic status. Under the National Research Survey (NRS) social grades, ABC1 is the higher level indicating that those within this group are middle class and have professional managerial jobs. The grades are used for consumer profiling and market research to assess spending habits. Over the past decade there has been a steady increase in the number of people falling into the ABC1 category.
