Adam Scott has withdrawn from the PGA Tour’s Zozo Championship this week after testing positive for COVID-19.

The PGA Tour announced the news on Wednesday with a statement from Scott.

“While it’s difficult news to receive — as I really looked forward to playing this week — my focus is now on recovery for the final stretch of the fall,” Scott said, per the PGA statement.

Neither Scott nor the PGA provided details of of Scott’s diagnosis or whether he was symptomatic.

Jim Herman will replace Scott in the field.

The tournament that normally takes place in Japan starts Thursday at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. The venue was moved this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tiger Woods won the tournament in 2019 and is slated to play this week to defend his championship.

Another top golfer catches COVID-19

Per Golf Channel, Scott is the 15th PGA player to test positive for COVID-19. World No. 1 Dustin Johnson also withdrew from the Zozo Championship and last week’s CJ Cup after testing positive.

Scott’s intent to focus on the fall presumably means he hopes to play in the Masters, which will start Nov. 12 after COVID-19 forced a postponement from its traditional April schedule.

Scott won the Masters in 2013 and is the No. 15 ranked player in the world.
