Alison Brie is getting back into the ring with the creators of GLOW.

The Netflix wrestling show's creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch have signed up Brie as part of an ensemble cast for an Apple TV+ drama series called Roar, reports TheWrap.

Roar is based on a book of short stories from author Cecelia Ahern about the ways women "blaze through adversity with wit, resourcefulness, and compassion".

This anthology nature of Roar will allow for the show to have an incredible cast that also features Big Little Lies' Nicole Kidman, two-time Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo and former Walking Dead actress Merritt Wever.

While no details about their characters have been revealed, they will be appearing in eight "darkly comic feminist fables" from Flahive and Mensch. Kidman will join the duo as executive producer.

Roar is likely the closest GLOW fans will get to a reunion, since Alison Brie has admitted that even a fan campaign probably wouldn't convince Netflix to make a wrap-up movie for the '80s wrestling drama.

"I'm a little pessimistic about it actually happening just in light of everything that's gone on this year and how difficult it is to get anything back into production with COVID," she told The Playlist's The Fourth Wall podcast.

"And I'm also part of the Community cast, who's been trying to get a movie going for six years, so what I'm saying is don't hold your breath because if it does happen, it might take a minute. It's definitely a bummer."

Brie has recently had some success producing and starring in horror movie The Rental with husband Dave Franco, which simultaneously topped the US box office and streaming charts last summer.
