Allen Robinson mum on trade request, says he 'never wavered' on wanting to play for Bears

A day after The Chicago Tribune reported that Allen Robinson had requested a trade, the wide receiver sounds ready to finish the season with the Bears.

Robinson spoke with reporters on Wednesday. He declined to answer questions about the trade request report. But he did state his desire to continue playing in Chicago.

“My heart and spirit has never wavered as far as the city of Chicago and playing for this organization,” Robinson said.

Robinson’s agent Brandon Parker denied on Tuesday that he had requested a trade. He did acknowledge that Robinson was unhappy with his lack of a fair-market contract.

Bears still absent from Robinson’s social media

Meanwhile, Robinson deleted Bears references from his social media. There remains no mention of the team on his Twitter or Instagram page as of Wednesday afternoon.

Prior to Robinson’s statements to the media, head coach Matt Nagy said that he had spoken with Robinson and expected the contract issues to be resolved. General manager Ryan Pace said last week that Robinson was important to the Bears as a player and a teammate.

Robinson confirmed that he had talked to both and is on the same page about completing the season in Chicago.

“I’ve talked to Ryan, I’ve talked to Coach Nagy. We’re in the clear with that,” Robinson said, per NFL Network’s Stacy Dales.

Robinson, 27, is in the final season of a three-year, $42 million deal and was not able to reach terms with the Bears on an extension before the start of the season. He led the Bears with 98 receptions for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns last season and is the team’s most productive player on offense.
