SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (AP) _ Allogene Therapeutics Inc. (ALLO) on Tuesday reported a loss of $31.6 million in its first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the South San Francisco, California-based company said it had a loss of 32 cents.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 41 cents per share.

Allogene Therapeutics shares have climbed 15% since the beginning of the year.
