I Am season 2 starring Suranne Jones: The release date, cast and plot

Suranne Jones will star in season two of BAFTA-winning director Dominic Savage's I Am anthology series, which will air on Channel 4 in August.

The Vigil star features in her own stand alone episode in the three-part series, with The Crown's Lesley Manville and Small Axe's Letitia Wright fronting their own individual instalments too.

Each actress has worked closely to collaborate with filmmaker Savage, taking on issues that resonate with them personally.

A trailer has been released ahead of the show's launch on on August 5, which features Jones, Manville and Wright playing their respective roles as Victoria, Maria and Danielle.

The drama will explore themes including relationships, mental health, and empowerment, and each story features moments that are emotionally raw, thought-provoking, and deeply personal.

Here's everything we know about the series so far...

I Am season 2: The release date

I Am begins with Suranne Jones' episode I Am Victoria, airing on Channel 4 on Thursday, 5th August at 9pm.

I Am season 2: The plot

Each story will be told from the perspective of a female-lead, with Suranne Jones fronting I Am Victoria, Letitia Wright headlining I Am Danielle, and Lesley Manville leading I Am Maria. All the actress have collaborated with filmmaker Dominic Savage on their episodes.

Dominic Savage says, “I am looking forward greatly to making another series of female led stories with such amazing and incredibly talented actors, starting with Suranne.

"It is a privilege to be telling such personal and important stories in this unique and collaborative way. These will be inspirational, relatable, and truthful tales of courage and hope, that shine a light on the difficult and challenging aspects of all of our lives."

The first series featured Line of Duty's Vicky McClure, Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan, and Samantha Morton.

I Am season two cast

Suranne Jones, Lesley Manville and Letitia Wright will each front their own hour-long story. The stars will be joined by a supporting cast including Ashley Walters, Alice Feetham, Sophia Brown, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr and CJ Beckford.

I Am begins on August 5th, at 9pm on Channel 4.
