Amanda Holden has urged fans to make a special effort to connect with people this Christmas after “a difficult year” for everyone.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge reflected on the struggles of 2020 as she unveiled a new festive single, Home For Christmas.

She told fans on Instagram that a positive aspect of the coronavirus lockdown was having more time with loved ones.

“It’s been a difficult year for us all but one of the positives to come from 2020 has been the extra time we’ve been given to engage with friends, neighbours, and our families,” she said.

“‘Home’ means love.

“This Christmas let’s all make that extra special effort to connect in whatever way we can with one another.

“Making someone feel they are not alone is one of the greatest gifts we can give in 2020.”

Holden’s daughters Hollie and Alexa appear in the accompanying music video, which the star said was particularly poignant.

“We’re all hoping we can see our loved ones this year, so it really was special to have the family in the film,” she said.

“I wanted to celebrate cherishing the times that we can be together… past, present and future, and I hope you enjoy x.”

She previously explained that the album was “all the songs that I've loved in my life, sung for the people that I love in my life who mean the most to me”.

“It's a massively emotional album and hopefully it’s something that everyone can relate to," she said on her Heart Radio show.
