North America's largest retailers all seem to be coalescing around the “summer savings event” as a way to attract shoppers this season. Target, Walmart, and Aldi have each announced store-wide discounts on hundreds of their most popular items over the coming weeks, and now Amazon Fresh has entered the fray with a Prime-Day-esque promise of huge price cuts on 4,000 products, with deals rotating weekly. Sounds like you couldn’t overpay for a summer barbecue this year if you tried.

According to CNN, the price cuts will apply to meat, seafood, frozen food, beverages, snacks, dairy and cheese, pasta, and more.

A press release notes that the discounts will include a mix of name-brand products and Amazon’s private-label goods, including the Aplenty grocery line. The discounts can be found both online and at brick-and-mortar Amazon Fresh stores. And as always, Amazon Prime members will receive 10% off additional items when they shop online.

Psychologically, there’s nothing more enticing than a deal, and retailers are not only attracting consumers with the promise of markdowns — the lower prices might also make budget-conscious shoppers feel better about how (and how much) they’re spending. Walmart is even offering easy one-click shopping list bundles on its website that include everything for a summer party, including glass water dispensers and beverage coolers. Amazon’s approach of rotating its sales, meanwhile, gives customers a reason to keep returning to check what’s on offer.
