Nicolas Cage's Joe Exotic project has found a home at Amazon Prime Video.

Streamer of hit shows like The Boys and Hunters, this rival to Netflix is developing the scripted series previously announced back in May (via Deadline).

Adapted from the Texas Monthly article 'Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey into the World of a Man Gone Wild', it'll centre around zookeeper Joe Schreibvogel (Exotic's real name), who "fights to keep his park – even at the risk of losing his sanity".

The untitled series has some giants of the industry behind it, including American Vandal showrunner Dan Lagana and Oscar-winning producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile and American Gangster).

"I've done a little bit of filming for that [season two]. I do not know the release date but it's going to be very interesting because it will tell a little bit of Joe's arrest and afterwards.

"I know there's going to be some phone call recordings of Joe that is going to be in it. There is no filming since he's incarcerated," he said.

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is streaming on Netflix.
