Thousands of Brits have reported issues with accessing the Amazon (AMZN) website and app.

Users expressed their frustrations on social media after experiencing problems with the site, including issues logging in and making purchases.

The problem emerged on Thursday afternoon and has continued into Friday, according to online outage tracker, DownDetector.

So far, over 2,000 people have logged complaints with the site since glitches appeared yesterday.

Data suggests that people in London, Brighton and Bristol are worst hit. There were reports of issues also arising as far north as Aberdeen, according to the Sun.

But, it appears that only a small number of users are experiencing issues. According to users on DownDetector, the outage is linked to a problem with Sky broadband.

Customers highlighted the Sky Broadband Shield, the built-in firewall — as a possible reason customers cannot connect to Amazon UK.

One user, Colin Bell said: “Also a Sky broadband user that was having problems. Turned off Shield and it started working again — then turned shield BACK ON again (as I was reluctant to leave it off), and Amazon continues to work (for me at least). So for those that have turned it off you may want to try turning back on again. Obviously it reset something at Sky!”

Amazon UK told Yahoo Finance that it is aware of the reports and its “investigating the issue.”

Sky said late on Friday, that the problem “has now been resolved” and that the broadband provider “proactively blocks several million phishing and malware websites.”

It added: Late yesterday [Thursday], Sky Broadband incorrectly identified a domain that is used by Amazon and was marked as 'Phishing/Malware'. As soon as this was brought to our attention, we investigated and discovered it was not either 'phishing/malware' related.”

The broadband provider apologised to its customers and said that it has “since added this domain to an ‘allow list’, so that it loads normally for all customers.”

Other users took to Twitter (TWTR) to bemoan the outage.

"I can't log on to the amazon app or website," one user tweeted. "All I get is a blank screen."

Another said: "Down for me as well since last night. Android app and your website.

Amazon Help account said that the website is “working” and advised customers to “restart and clear the cache.”
