Amazon in talks to buy online luxury retailer Net-a-porter

LONDON (ShareCast) - Amazon is in talks to buy the online luxury retailer Net-a-porter, owned by Swiss firm Richemont since 2010 and founded in 2000 by Natalie Massenet. The negotiations are in early stages, as reported late Thursday by Forbes.

This move would allow Amazon to enter into the fashion business, a key sector for the company with a high growth potential.

Net-a-porter recorded sales of $835m in 2014.

It is not the first time that the e-commerce giant is said to be in talks to buy a retailer. In 2014 Amazon was reportedly in talks to buy Indian fashion retailer Jabong.com for $1.2bn.
