BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (AP) _ Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AMRX) on Thursday reported a loss of $47.9 million in its first quarter.

The Bridgewater, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 37 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 14 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 18 cents per share.

The pharmaceutical company posted revenue of $446.1 million in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $434.6 million.

Amneal expects full-year earnings in the range of 94 cents to $1.04 per share.

Amneal shares have fallen almost 3% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 10% in the last 12 months.
