Strictly Come Dancing has announced the 2021 judging panel, which will include Anton Du Beke for the first time.

Anton Du Beke is the longest serving professional dancer on the show and will sit alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas, who all return to the judging panel for 2021.

Judge Bruno Tonioli will not be part of this year’s series due to “ongoing uncertainty regarding international travel restrictions caused by COVID-19”, the show said in a release.

Instead, Anton Du Beke will be taking Bruno's place in his absence for the upcoming series and, having danced in every series of Strictly to date, he should have a wealth of experience to offer.

In the release Anton said, “My loves I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be stepping into Bruno’s brogues for the next series of Strictly,” adding that it was “a dream come true to be judging alongside the best of the best and I promise to be kinder to all the couples than any of them have ever been to me.”

Bruno Tonioli said that while he was “gutted” not to be able to take part in this year’s series, “Anton IS Mr Strictly and if anybody is filling in for me, it has to be him. I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way and I am so excited to see him waggle his paddle.”

BBC have confirmed that the nineteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing will return to screens later this year, with the full celebrity line up still yet to be announced.
