Anya Taylor-Joy is no stranger to a bold beauty look: her breakout role as Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit saw her debut a cropped red box bob that is now recognised the world over.

But at Sunday evening’s virtual Golden Globes ceremony, Taylor-Joy had fully shrugged off Harmon’s quirky demeanour to offer up one of the evening’s stand-out beauty looks, picking up the award for Best Actress (Limited Series) in the process.

The 24 year-old actress delivered a masterclass in modern Hollywood glamour, pairing her emerald-green custom Dior gown with a timeless smoky eye and rust-red lip by make-up artist Georgie Eisdell, exclusively using Dior Makeup.

"My inspiration for Anya's look came from her exquisite Dior gown. The look has a little '70's vibe to it, so I wanted to lean into that but keep it modern, so we went with a smokey bronzed eye, gorgeous fluffy lash and soft cheek. To pull it all together I opted for a modern, nude lip," said Eisdell.

Keeping the eyes "clasically smoky and modern", Eisdell used the 5 Couleurs palette in New Look, "mixing the lighter bronze and deeper bronze together to make the perfect shade, applying it on the lid and up to the crease. I added depth to the eye by using the dark brown across the lash line," she said. Taylor-Joy's muted red lip came courtesy of Rouge Dior in Promenade.

But it was Taylor-Joy’s hair that truly commanded second glances. The star made a strong case for keeping that lockdown length with her waist-skimming platinum style, split into a deep side parting and set into a brushed-out curl by stylist Gregory Russell.

Russell used the new GHD Max to create those old Hollywood waves: the wider than usual plates make for a larger, looser curl with maximum bounce.
