It is almost time for the long-awaited al-fresco reopening of hospitality, and although it’s set to be a bit chilly, the prospect of sitting outside a favourite bar, pub or restuarant with friends is getting millions through another lockdown week.

The biggest date yet in the roadmap out of lockdown will allow “non-essential” stores to return to trading from April 12, while hospitality businesses will be able to serve customers outdoors.

To mark the big day, Aperol has revealed it is to pick up the tab for up to 100,000 of its signature Aperol Spritzes this summer.

Anyone, anywhere in the UK, will be able to order two spritzes in any hospitality venue, then upload a photo of their itemised receipt to Aperol’s dedicated page here, and receive an £8 refund via bank transfer or PayPal for one of the drinks - even if it cost less than £8 at your local.

All fun-seekers need to do in advance is register on the site in advance of heading out, as consumers will be sent a linnk to redeem in their confimation email.

There will be only one registration and redemption permitted per person. The promotion is running until the end of August, to give everyone a chance to redeem the offer whenever they are comfortable returning to hospitality venues.

Aperol UK’s Loris Contro said: “Life, like a Spritz, is best served shared. That’s why, after so long apart, we wanted to play our part in bringing people together again, as hospitality venues re-open across the country – with an Aperol Spritz on us.

“We don’t want people to visit bars before they’re comfortable doing so, which is why they can redeem their drink when they’re ready over the summer until 31 August.

“Each drink represents two people reconnecting and making up for lost time – a joy shared is a joy doubled. Salute!”
