What does your current employer offer you? Do the perks start and end at free teas and coffees or, perhaps, do you get your birthday off as standard and enjoy a flexible hybrid working schedule?

Whether you work crunching numbers at a disruptive tech start-up or do the heavy lifting at a building site, it's no secret that each job comes with some perks and, conversely, plenty of issues. But what does the ideal working week look like for the majority of full-time staff?

A recent poll published by office equipment suppliers Raja Workplace sought to answer this issue and found that British workers are most likely to want a 21-hour to 30-hour working week — this equates to a four-day week, FYI — a yearly salary of £44,355 and a 17-minute commute.

Other key findings from the survey found that a 'pleasant' view from the office was beneficial, as were friendly colleagues, a good office location and, on average, 29 days holiday per annum. More specifically, the top 10 workplace perks are:

  • Regular pay rises

  • Excellent pension

  • Bonuses for great work

  • Day off on your birthday

  • Health/dental insurance

  • Chances to learn/ good training

  • Free tea/coffee

  • Chances to advance

  • Training opportunities

  • Casual office wear

"It’s very important to work somewhere that aligns with your lifestyle and values its employee’s needs," said Andrew Wood, spokesman for Raja Workplace. "There are so many different things employers must take into consideration when designing a workplace and environment for their employees."
