Apple cider mimosas are the perfect boozy fall beverage

Fall is here and brunch doesn’t have to end just because the temperature is dropping.

In The Know’s apple cider mimosa recipe is the perfect cool weather drink with a special caramel twist. This boozy seasonal beverage will go great with all the squash, pumpkin and always-in-season cheese dishes you’re likely devouring. So ditch the summer citrus and board the autumnal apple cider train.

Producer AmiLin McClure will walk you through the recipe to make four servings for your next get-together.

Ingredients:

  • 3 TBSP caramel

  • 3 TBSP cinnamon sugar

  • 1/2 cup apple cider

  • 1 bottle of Prosecco

  • 4 apple slices

First, take the rim of each serving glass and dip it into the caramel and then into the cinnamon sugar. Next, pour 1 ounce of apple cider into the glass and top it off with prosecco. Finally, add an apple slice for garnish. Enjoy.

“This is the perfect way to celebrate fall and could even be a drink you make for family and friends at Thanksgiving,” AmiLin says.

While the mimosa was invented in 1925, apple cider has ancient origins. For centuries, apples were too bitter to be edible. According to Smithsonian Magazine, people instead pressed them for juice or fermented the fruit into hard cider. The Ancient Egyptians may have drunk cider as early as 1300 B.C. but the Romans discovered it in the British Isles around 55 B.C. and spread the drink across Europe. Apple cider later made its way to the Americas via colonizers in New England.

So there you have it, drink up a bit of history this fall.
