Appy Days As Angry Birds Takes Home Top Prize

The popular smartphone app Angry Birds has been named best game at the Appy Awards for the second year in a row.

The game, which has been downloaded millions of times worldwide, involves firing birds from a slingshot at pigs.

The top award, Judges' choice, went to Sky Sports News which was the app of the year. And following on from last year's success, it again took the prize in the sport category.

Dermot O'Leary hosted the event, sponsored by Carphone Warehouse, which rewards apps for the iPad, iPhone and other popular devices that demonstrate innovation and development.

YouTube was a double winner, picking up prizes for music as well as celebrity/entertainment.
