Arjun Kapoor’s high-top sneakers cost more than a Royal Enfield

As far as sneakers go, the Air Jordan Travis Scott rank fairly high up. The Nike collab celebrates the hip-hop artist with these limited edition kicks that dropped in 2019. Officially, the sneakers are named Air Jordan 1 High OG x Travis Scott and retail for $175. However being limited edition sneakers, they flew off the shelf even before reaching the shelf. As a result, these are now available at a significant mark-up.

The only ones available right now are ones that are being sold by sneaker marketplaces for limited edition and high demand sneakers. On StockX, the most reliable marketplace for everything from Jordans and Yeezys to trading cards and designer handbags, the kicks retail for anywhere between $1,495 to $3,046 depending on what size you’re looking for. That’s about Rs 1.11 lakh to Rs 2.26 lakh and that wouldn’t include taxes.

It’s impossible to say from where exactly Arjun Kapoor bought these or just how much they may have cost him but it’s safe to say they weren’t purchased for $175. Arjun Kapoor, like several Bollywood actors of his generation, is a sneakerhead and is often spotted in some of the hottest sneakers. Typically most sneakerheads – or at least the ones who can afford it – have a broker who buys sneakers when they drop and sell it to them for a mark-up.

Limited edition sneakers are also traded like stocks. If you can’t afford some of the really expensive ones – like the Kanye West’s Nike Air Yeezy 1 prototype that went for a cool Rs 13 crore recently – you can even buy shares in the sneakers like you would buy shares of a publicly listed company. It makes you one of the many owners of the pair, just like buying shares makes you one of the many owners of a company.

However, should Arjun Kapoor try to resell the pair he’s wearing in the picture, chances are he won’t get a very steep price since he’s clearly seen wearing them. The price of limited edition sneakers falls considerably when they’re used even if for a few hours.
