Arsenal concern over Bukayo Saka as Mikel Arteta admits uncertainty over injury blow vs Newcastle

Arsenal will assess Bukayo Saka after he limped off injured during Saturday’s win over Newcastle.

Saka scored the opening goal of the game as Arsenal ran out 2-0 winners at Emirates Stadium, but was unable to finish the game having pulled up shortly after - despite an attempt at playing on.

The England winger continued to struggle with a muscle issue, believed to be his quad, and could not carry on after receiving treatment.

Eventually, Saka had to be substituted with around 25 minutes to go and his replacement, Gabriel Martinelli, came on to seal the victory by scoring Arsenal’s second goal.

The youngster is set to undergo a scan on Sunday and Arsenal will hope any injury is not serious ahead of facing Manchester United on Thursday.

“It was an action where he said that he felt something [in his muscle], he wasn’t comfortable enough to continue,” said Arteta.

“We will have to assess him tomorrow and probably scan him, and see if there is any injury there.

“He felt something muscular. Let’s see what it is.”
