Arsenal defeated Molde 3-0 on Thursday night as they cruised into the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Simon Collings delivers his verdict on how the players performed…

Arsenal player ratings

Alex Runarsson 6

Another easy night for the Iceland international. One scary moment in the first-half, but was otherwise cool in possession.

Cedric Soares 6

Still yet to play in the Premier League this season, but has been a regular during this Europa League campaign. Solid display.

Shkodran Mustafi 7

A fairly easy night for the German, who played alongside Luiz for a half and then Holding for the second 45 minutes.

David Luiz 6

Only played the first-half after being brought off at the break due to a possible injury following a clash of heads.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles 6

Started the game at left-back and finished up playing midfield. A solid performance that contained no real mistakes.

Joe Willock 7

Once again showed how he can add dynamism to Arsenal’s midfield. Nabbed himself an assist by setting up Nelson for Arsenal’s second.

Granit Xhaka 6

Marshalled things well in midfield and was neat and tidy in possession. Played just over an hour and should start against Wolves on Sunday.

Nicolas Pepe 7

Moved on from his sending off against Leeds on Sunday by scoring a brilliant goal. Was full of energy and looked a threat all night.

Alexandre Lacazette 6

Played in a different role after being fielded as a No10. Linked up well with Nelson and went close with an effort in the second-half.

Arsenal’s best player on what was otherwise a pretty damp affair. Deserved his goal and game was full of skill and trickery.

Eddie Nketiah 6

Didn’t have many chances on a quiet night for him. Did have the ball in the back of the net, but it was ruled out for offside.

Substitutes

Rob Holding (Luiz 45’) 6

Came on for Luiz at half-time and looked calm and composed. Didn’t really put a foot wrong during his performance.

Dani Ceballos (Xhaka 62’) 6

Brought off the bench to help see out the game. As usual was full of running and demanded the ball off his team-mates.

Kieran Tierney (Willock 75’) 6

Solid as ever from the Scotsman, who came on to help Arsenal see out the victory.

Emile Smith Rowe (Lacazette 75’) 7

Only given a brief cameo to state his case, but got an assist by setting up Balogun for his goal. A timely reminder of his talents for Arteta.

Folarin Balogun (Nketiah 82’) 7

Off the bench and bagged his first ever senior goal for Arsenal within seconds. A dream moment for the teenager.

Subs not used: Macey, Hein, Bellerin, Cottrell, Azeez.
