Arsenal host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday, with the teams having recently met in the FA Cup.

Mikel Arteta’s men have returned to form recently but ultimately disappointed when they faced Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday. Meanwhile, Newcastle are in torrid form after back-to-back defeats – including losing to Sheffield United last time out.

It was the Blades’ first league win of the season and it heaped an immense amount of pressure on Newcastle manager Steve Bruce.

Ahead of Monday's visit of the Magpies, Arteta says he feels the injuries suffered by the likes of Kieran Tierney and Pablo Mari will become more commonplace before the end of the season.

Asked if there was a risk of burnout due to the amount of games, Arteta replied: "Yes. We have been trying to manage it.

"But the reality is that the fixtures are what they are and we didn't have a pre-season, which is why - and we've talked about it many, many times - one of the reasons we wanted the five subs.

"It was exactly that. But this is just the consequences and this will happen more and more, I think, and to more clubs."

What is the team news?

Arsenal will be without Pablo Mari, who missed the draw with Palace due to a calf injury. Gabriel Martinelli and Kieran Tierney will be assessed ahead of the clash.

Confirmed line-ups

AFC XI: Leno, Cedric, Luiz, Holding, Tierney, Partey, Xhaka, Saka, Smith Rowe, Aubameyang, Lacazette

NUFC XI: Darlow, Krafth, Lascelles, Clark, Lewis, Shelvey, M. Longstaff, Almiron, Joelinton, Carroll, Wilson

Odds

Arsenal: 4/9

Draw: 7/2

Newcastle: 7/1

Prediction

Both sides are in worrying form, and their FA Cup clash didn’t exactly set pulses racing. However, Newcastle are in a really bad run under Bruce, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Arsenal nicked a truly scrappy game. 1-0 Arsenal.
