Asians most heavily represented ethnic minority in UK rich list
Asian families are, by far, the most heavily represented ethnic minority in the Sunday Times Rich List.
Every year, the Sunday Times calculates who are the richest people in Britain and release dozens of lists, according to identifiable wealth including land, property, other assets such as art, and shares in companies. The calculations do not include the amount contained in people's bank accounts. One of this year’s lists rank the richest Asians in the UK, which includes 82 entries.
Sri and Gopi Hinduja and family don’t just top the richest Asians list — they are also the richest family in Britain, with a net worth of £22bn ($12.9bn). They have business ventures in property, oil and gas, IT, media, banking, property and even healthcare. Over the last year alone, their fortune has jumped by £1.356bn.
David and Simon Reuben also rank second in the overall richest people in Britain list as well as richest Asians in Britain list with a net worth of £18.664bn. The Mumbai-born siblings snapped up a range of lucrative properties in London over the last year, including affluent Mayfair’s £300m Burlington Arcade and Shoreditch’s Curtain hotel.

Lakshmi Mittal and his family, which control the largest steelmaker in the world, ArcelorMittal, had a tough year with his wealth depleting by £11m per day due to the slowdown in global demand for the metal.
However, he still came in third place in the richest Asians in Britain list with a net worth of £10.669bn and 11th in the overall richest people in the UK ranking.
