In the heat of summer, nothing beats a scoop of cool, delicious ice cream.

Regardless of whether you prefer your ice cream in a cone or a cup, there certainly is no better way to enjoy a nice sundae than straight out of the the Stanley Cup.

Colorado Avalanche defenceman Jack Johnson treated his kids to the one-of-a-kind experience during his day with the Cup on Saturday, loading up the top bowl with heaps of tasty ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup and sprinkles at Dell's Ice Cream and Coffee in Dublin, Ohio.

A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Johnson spends his offseasons in Dublin, a suburb of Columbus and where his wife, Kelly, is from. Kelly's older brother Brady is a former quarterback for the Cleveland Browns and a current football analyst for FOX Sports, and her brother-in-law is former NFL linebacker A.J. Hawk.

The 35-year-old Johnson registered nine points in 74 regular season games with Colorado this season, and went pointless in 13 games in the playoffs on the way to his first career Stanley Cup.

In 16 NHL seasons split between the Los Angeles Kings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Rangers and Avalanche, Johnson has 72 goals and 240 assists for 312 points in 1,024 games.

He was selected out of the University of Michigan with the third-overall pick of the 2005 NHL Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Johnson is currently an unrestricted free agent, coming off a one-year, $750,000 contract he signed with Colorado after being invited to training camp on a professional try-out.

While he and his family enjoy the long-awaited Cup celebrations, his playing future remains up in the air.

"Honestly, I don't know yet," Johnson told NHL.com. "I'd love to go back to Denver. There's conversations being had, but right now I'm just enjoying my day with the Cup and we'll see what happens."
