Avient Insider Ups Holding During Year

From what we can see, insiders were net buyers in Avient Corporation's (NYSE:AVNT ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders acquired the stock in greater numbers than they sold it.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Avient Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Advisor Robert Patterson made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$840k worth of shares at a price of US$34.55 each. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$43.22), we still think insider buying is a positive. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Insider Ownership

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Avient insiders own about US$68m worth of shares. That equates to 1.7% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

So What Do The Avient Insider Transactions Indicate?
