This restaurant is the first in the UK to BAN ‘boring’ avocado
A newly-launched restaurant has become the first to ban avocado in a bid to break Brits’ obsession with the fruit.
London-based Aegean-inspired restaurant Firedog is implementing a strict ‘no avocado policy’, believing that eating out for breakfast or lunch should be about more than avocado on toast.
The unusual move by the restaurant and bar, which serves all-day breakfast and lunch, comes in the wake of an ever-increasing obsession with avocado – by the end of 2015 UK shoppers were spending more on the fruit than on oranges.
Instead, Firedog says it’s time avocado shared the limelight with some other culinary stars and is serving an array of different fruit and veg in dishes like Grilled Halloumi & Fennel Roasted Beetroot.

Executive Chef George Notley said: “Our mission is to reinvigorate the morning dining scene in London, which has done avocado to death, and we’re frankly bored of seeing it on every breakfast and brunch menu.
“The ever-evolving cooking methods used in Aegean street food inspired us to create a colourful menu rich in interesting flavours and fresh ingredients. All without an avocado in sight!”
