Baylor fans rush field, set furniture ablaze to celebrate first NCAA men's basketball championship

Baylor won its first NCAA men's basketball title in dominant fashion Monday, overwhelming Gonzaga from the opening tip en route to an 86-70 victory in the national championship game.

Baylor, being in Texas, fittingly added some football flair to its celebration. Fans gathered for a watch party at McLane Stadium, home of Baylor's football team. Judging by the official halftime video shared by Baylor, there was an effort toward mask wearing, if not so much social distancing.

After the final horn in Indianapolis, fans in Waco rushed the field.

Away from the field, requisite renditions of Queen's "We are the Champions" blared in scenes that were most certainly not concerned with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

And couches were burned.

Because, of course, couches were burned.

Never fear. Waco FD is here.

And so is Waco PD. Just in case.

Be safe, Waco. And enjoy a championship run worthy of celebration.
