Belgium nuclear regulator clears Engie's Doel 2 reactor for restart

PARIS, France (Reuters) - Belgian nuclear regulator AFCN said on Friday it has authorised Engie Electrabel, a unit of France's Engie (ENGIE.PA) to restart its Doel 2 nuclear reactor after a cooling pipe issue that led to its shutdown was clarified.

AFCN said in a statement that the 433-megawatt Doel 2 reactor can restart in the coming days, according to the company's schedule.

The power production from the reactor was suspended in April 2018. Engie Electrabel had planned to restart the reactor on Jan. 29.
