As supreme ruler of the online retail landscape, Amazon has built quite the reputation for extraordinary Black Friday deals. Last year alone the selection was so generous and diverse that the website went on to handle 54.9% of all online Black Friday transactions, according to Hitwise data cited in Dealerscope.

The weekend was so successful for the company, in fact, that Cyber Monday went on to become the biggest shopping day in the company’s history. For the first time ever, it even outperformed their annually record-breaking Prime Day sales event.

So, what’s in store (metaphorically speaking) for Amazon’s Black Friday 2018? Well, the e-tailer has already started releasing several deals on a daily basis in the run-up to the big day, which this year is on November 23. Here are our recommendations for what to keep an eye on, as well as the best deals on offer so far.

Today's best Amazon Black Friday deals

Amazon are releasing new deals every day in the week running up to Black Friday; here are our top picks from today's selection.

Fire TV Stick 4K and Echo Dot

Was £99.98, now £49.98 from Amazon

The third generation Echo Dot is usually £49.99, so this is a great deal. It is a hands-free, voice-controlled device which allows you to connect to personal assistant Alexa in order do a myriad of tasks: to play music, make calls, ask questions, check your calendar, weather, traffic and sports scores, manage to-do and shopping lists, control compatible smart home devices, and more.

In this bundle deal the Dot comes with the Fire TV streaming stick, which lets you plug in and play thousands of programmes from streaming channels, including its own Prime Video.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro

Was £229, now £139 from Amazon

Want to monitor your front door from anywhere? This doorbell works with selected Alexa devices to allow you to do just that, as well as check in on your home at any time with the device's Live View on-demand video and audio.

It can launch real-time video with your voice; lets you see, hear and speak to visitors from your phone, tablet and PC; and sends alerts when motion is detected or when visitors press the doorbell. This offer knocks almost 40 per cent off the Doorbell so is worth snapping up.

Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet

Was £129.99, now £89.99 from Amazon

The Amazon Fire 8 tablet is aimed at kids, giving them access to thousands of apps, books, films, games and more - great for both education and fun. As a specially designed children's tablet, you can set stringent parental controls, such as bedtime curfews and controls on screen time and content.

The Amazon products to watch

Amazon will likely release different deals each day over the course of this week, so it's good to know which products to keep an eye out for.

As with previous years, Amazon is primarily championing deals on their branded products like the Echo, Kindle and Fire TV Stick.

Amazon’s most popular Alexa-enabled smart speaker - the Echo Dot - was their best-selling Black Friday product of 2017 and its third generation model was released last month.

The all-new Echo Dot will features improved sound and a new design on top of the full Alexa package; the ability to play music, answer questions, read the news, check the weather, set alarms, control compatible smart home devices, and more.

So far the second generation model has received a more hefty price reduction than the latest one; as the third generation's upgrades are somewhat limited we suggest going for last year's device.

Last Friday the Amazon Smart plug was included in the reductions, so keep your eye out for it again over the course of this week. The plug which works with Alexa to add voice control to any - yes, any - electrical socket. Using the Alexa app on your smartphone, you can schedule lights and appliances to automatically turn on and off, or control them remotely.

Plus, the latest Kindle model (which has twice the storage the previous one did and is waterproof) was reduced from £119.99 to £89.99.

The Echo Plus and Echo Show have also got a facelift in the lead up to Black Friday and sit alongside a brand new speaker connector (Echo Input), deep bass subwoofer for Echo devices (Echo Sub), and WiFi-driven device controller (Amazon Smart Plug).

Non-Amazon branded products

So far, most of the products reduced by Amazon for their Black Friday sales have been their branded devices. However we expect them to cut the prices of their non-Amazon branded products on Black Friday itself; looking back at previous years gives an indication of what deals to expect.

It would be no mistake to attribute Amazon's Black Friday success to the behemoth catalogue of products available. The company sells everything from smartphones to dog bones and there is often something for everyone across their Lightning, Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals.

Based on last year’s offering we are likely to see a range of TVs at every size and price point (especially Smart 4K Ultra HD TVs), multiple PS4 bundles (often around £50 off the console’s RRP), a number of sim-free flagship and midweight phones (iPhones were roughly £100 off while Huawei’s latest was £320 cheaper), rock-bottom Dyson vacuum cleaners (many were over £200 off last year), professional-grade Sony cameras at compact costs, and more.

New tech’s impossibly tiny life cycles mean many of 2017's trending products are already listed at last year’s Black Friday deal prices. It is likely they will be further reduced in the coming weeks while newer models get £60-£100 cut from their RRP.

Trends from Amazon’s daily deals over the last few weeks would suggest luxury watches, microSDs, Xbox One/Nintendo Switch bundles, coffee machines, electric toothbrushes and more.
