In the UK, the Golden Globes means two things: a decent pointer towards what's going to do business at the Oscars, and a bumper crop of memes. That was even more the case this year, as the great and good of the acting world Zoomed into the ceremony with varying degrees of success.

Daniel Kaluuya got muted by a producer, and Aaron Sorkin gave us all an insight into his music room.

The sudden and often unexpected cuts to actors and directors made it a slightly stressful watch for everyone at home. Big Zoom meeting you'd forgotten was happening until 10 minutes ago vibes.

Still, there were some moments of unalloyed joy. Minari's win in the foreign language film category brought a gigantic cuddle from director Lee Isaac Chung's daughter, whose fluffy shrug and shouts of "I prayed! I prayed! I prayed!" made her the evening's standout.

Minari's eight-year-old star Alan Kim ran her extremely close though. Give them next year's opening monologue.

And Jason Sudeikis' tired and emotional speech after his win for Ted Lasso was improved tenfold by his tie-dye hoodie made of recycled bottles and his open amazement at just how old Norman Lear is these days.

Excellent. At entirely the other end of the scale, Al Pacino seemed less thrilled by the experience. Get that man a furry shrug.

For this, he drew his bouffant to its full height? This disrespect? This English guy taking his award for playing some prince?

Perhaps Al might have appreciated a text from David Fincher, whose one-man Golden Globes drinking game was particularly heartening.

One finger if you lose best director, two fingers if you lose best film drama, see it all off if you've just lumped on Nomadland for the Oscars.

More than anything, though, the image which felt like it best summed up the odd space which this year's Globes occupied was this: an oddly pink-looking Jeff Daniels in Tim the Tool Man Taylor cosplay sitting in his spare room, which is made of at least 100 doors.

Deeply weird, very funny. Zoom again next year?
