Whether you live in an apartment or a multi-room home, your personal safety should be a top priority. For many, home security systems are the preferred method for securing their home spaces. However, the most trusted options can cost upwards of $158.

At a drastically reduced price and size, the Sabre Wedge Doorstop Security Alarm offers the best of both worlds: security and peace of mind.

Outlining the statistic that a burglary occurs every 12.5 seconds in the United States, the gadget’s product description explains that this simple-yet-effective $12 option is “a great solution” to either help fortify an already existing home alarm system or to use on its own.

Particularly ideal for bedrooms, dorm rooms, hotel rooms or apartments, this popular Amazon find sets off a loud 120-decibel alarm that can be heard up to 1,000 feet away when pressure is applied to the door in which it is placed. The description further explains that it is so loud that “anyone in the immediate area will hear it.”

The item is also very easy to install. Simply slide the battery-operated device under the door of your choice in your home and that’s it. The attached anti-skid pad helps prevent the door from opening from the outside. For extra convenience, a one-touch switch and low battery light are included to ensure that you know the alarm is active and ready to go.

This gadget has given Amazon shoppers peace of mind, with several reviewers explaining how it’s provided comfort and safety they now cannot live without.

Fantastic door alarm that no one should be without in my opinion, even if you have an alarm,” one reviewer wrote. “I travel a lot for work, and having one at the door in the room is extra peace of mind.”

The same reviewer also added that it is “inexpensive enough for you to supply for your family, and even friends.”

Another shopper provided a personal instance to demonstrate that the product “works as advertised.”

“Gave one to a 20-something female neighbor whose weirdo landlord kept popping in unannounced,” the review reads. “She said it worked to block his entry, and they both heard the loud shrill of the security alarm.”

“I have concrete floors with an LL Bean rubber-backed rug at the entrance, and this wedge is high enough to stop the door, whereas others did not,” the reviewer added. “Highly recommended, for both security and peace of mind.”

The only con one shopper outlined is that the device isn’t best used with thick carpet as it can potentially get stuck. However, only one reviewer expressed this concern.
