These are the best pre-Super Bowl TV deals

So it’s come to this again. The much-maligned New England Patriots — I’m a Giants fan — are once again going to the Super Bowl to face off against the (flips through notes) … Philadelphia Eagles? Fantastic. So, if you’re like 95% of the country, you’ll be unhappy, however, the big game turns out on Feb. 4.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy at least one good piece of the Super Bowl 2018 hype: all of those sweet, sweet TV sales.

That’s right, despite the insanity surrounding Black Friday and all of those images of shoppers dragging trains of 50-inch TVs through stores, the lead up to the Super Bowl is actually the best time to buy a new big-screen.

That’s because retailers are clearing out old stock and getting ready to fill their shelves with the latest crop of sets, including those announced at the Consumer Electronics Show at the beginning of January. So if you’ve ever wanted to get a TV at a solid price, get off your butt now. And here’s where to shop:

Amazon

Amazon (AMZN) will likely be one of your first stops when looking for new TVs, and the company knows it. That’s why Amazon is selling a number of high-end TVs for as much as $1,500 off.

All but one of the TVs Amazon is selling are Sony (SNE) sets. You’ve got your choice of everything from 49-inch models all the way up to the kind of 75-inch behemoths that only your super rich uncle can own.

Amazon has some impressive deals on Sony TVs this year.

The 49-inch X900E is going for $898, which is a $100 savings off its regular price. The 55-inch X900E is down $200 to $998. The 55-inch X930E, meanwhile, costs $1,498 down from $1,698. Sony’s 60-inch X690E, normally priced at, $998 is now $698. The 65-inch X930E is $500 off its usual price of $2,498, and the 70-inch X690E is $1,198, down from $1,498. If space isn’t a problem for you, then there’s the 75-inch X850E, which is $500 off at $1,198.

Not a Sony fan? Amazon is also selling Samsung’s 75-inch MU8000 for $2,297. That’s steep, but not as steep as its regular price of $3,799. Yep, that’s $1,502 off. Not too shabby.

Best Buy

Best Buy (BBY) is rolling out a litany of major TV sales for the Super Bowl. Frankly, there’s way too many to go over here. But the company is highlighting a handful of LG sets for the big game.

First there’s the 43-inch LG UJ6200 for $299. That’s down from $429. Above that is the 49-inch LG UJ6200, which is going for $369, a savings of $180. Best Buy is also offering LG’s 55-inch UJ6200 for $469, which is $230 off. The 60-inch UJ6300 is $300 off at $599, while the big boss 70-inch UJ6570 is discounted by $500 down to $999.

Walmart

Walmart’s Philips TV deal is a solid choice.

Not to be outdone, Walmart (WMT) is offering a 55-inch TCL Roku TV 55S401 for $50 off at $348. Calling it a Roku TV is really just a way of saying that the TV comes with built-in Roku software. Then there’s Philips’ 5602, which is going for $698 rather than its original price of $848.

Target

Target (TGT), or Targé as my mother likes to call it, has a handful of Super Bowl TV deals of its own. The store is offering 10% off all Samsung UHD TVs through Feb. 3 when you use Cartwheel savings in the Target app. The retailer says it also has deals on TCL and Vizio sets ahead of the big game.

Kmart

Finally, Kmart is offering up a number of deals on TVs for the Super Bowl including Samsung’s 55-inch MU6290 for $597. That’s $102 off its original price.

Now get out there and start shopping before the big game gets here. And if you don’t plan on watching the game then at least you’ve got a reason to take advantage of some solid TV deals.
