Yahoo Finance The 'evil genius' reigns supreme in intense 'Big Brother Canada' Season 10 finale
Toronto’s Kevin Jacobs has been crowned the winner of Big Brother Canada Season 10 winning $100,000 cash and a $10,000 wardrobe from Winners, after coming into the house declaring his commitment to a sneaky strategy.
“I was completely confused and shocked, I thought Josh [Nash] had me beat in a landslide,” Kevin told Yahoo Canada. “I did my own thing, I think in the first couple of weeks everybody was going around telling people, ‘I'll give you one week of safety, two weeks of safety,’... I never did what everybody else did.”
“I wanted to just play my game, which was more so making people feel like they could control me, while I was doing the opposite.”
Kevin’s big win came after a shocking moment when Josh Nash chose to evict someone who he called his “best friend,” Betty Yirsaw, pushing her to third place.
“I've had a day to think about it and yeah, I'm a little salty, I'm not going to lie,” Yirsaw told Yahoo Canada, speaking to us while sitting right next to Josh. “It was a game move that he thought would benefit him, but it ended up not really benefiting him, so it is what it is.”
“I definitely would have made a different decision knowing what I know now, and especially after speaking to some of the jury members,” Josh added.
But Kevin revealed the Betty backstab was totally in the cards.
“I was 90 to 95 per cent sure that Josh was going to take me, I actually wasn't very nervous,” he said.
The 'evil genius' comes out on top
Looking back at Kevin’s gameplay that got him to the finale, Josh described his competitor as “an evil genius.”
“Day one when I met him, I told everyone in the house, this is the evil genius, we really have to watch out for him, and that's why Hermon [Nizghi] ended up putting him on the block in week one,” Josh said. “I ended up working really closely with him throughout the game because I think we just thought of similar game moves.”
“I definitely thought that Kevin was evil,” Betty added. “I didn't know that he was this big evil genius, though.”
The gummy bear eviction that defined 'Big Brother Canada' Season 10
When it comes to lasting memories from the Big Brother Canada game, Kevin, Josh and Betty and all agree that Gino Giannopoulos’ eviction, which stemmed from Marty Frenette’s gummy bear strategy, was the memorable moment of Season 10.
“I love the gummies and what I love about them is because it's so Big Brother, it's such a dramatic moment, but also it's so silly,” Kevin said. “It's gummies deciding somebody's game.”
“Literally, since week six I was like, '[Gino] is going to take it home, I don't even know what we're doing here anymore,'” Betty said. “He had the best [Head of Households] and then when he got evicted by the gummy bears, I was like, this is absolutely nuts.”
The reality of the bathroom situation on 'Big Brother'
As you can imagine, being stuck in a house with 16 people wasn’t always the easiest for the competitors, with Betty and Josh admitting that their paranoia levels have definitely increased from this experience.
“Your paranoia is definitely heightened, you do feel a little bit more anxious every day you wake up, there's definitely a sense of you [feeling like] you need to talk to everyone,” Josh said.
“Then there's the shower situation, waiting in line for your turn. Then there's the bathroom situation, waiting for the bathroom, and then cooking too, making meals, some people will want your food but you're not making food for everyone.”
While Betty and Josh wouldn’t spill on who specifically was the hardest to deal with in the house around things like bathroom usage, they did admit that someone was a “big snorer,” there was someone who passed gas and needed the washroom a lot, and others who would leave their clothes around.
Now that Kevin, Josh and Betty will be able to go home, Josh is looking forward to getting a donut on Granville Island, Betty can’t wait for her first family dinner and Kevin just wants to walk outside.
“To have the freedom to step outside of my apartment and walk up and down the street, I cannot wait,” he said.
