Billie Eilish inspired by fan to try 'dream' blonde hair

Billie Eilish has credited a fan with inspiring her to dye her hair platinum blonde.

The Your Power singer surprised her followers back in March when she swapped out her signature black-and-green tresses for a bright blonde shade.

Discussing the transformation during a virtual appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, Billie revealed that she decided to try out a new look after spotting some fan art online.

"I've been wanting it blonde for a while. I don't know what came over me," she said. "I saw a fan edit when I had green hair. It was me, with whatever hair colour I had, and they just edited blonde hair on me. I was like, 'Ah! So sick! I want it.'"

Once she decided to go blonde, Billie had to meet with her hair colourist so they could strip out all of the old dye before applying the bleach.

And even though the star was in good hands, she was still a little concerned that some of her strands may "burn off" during the process.

"I kind of thought of it as a dream," the 19-year-old continued. "I didn't think it was going to happen because my hair has been through so much. I thought I would burn it all off if I tried, but I did it!

"Yes, it's very hard (to go from dark to very blonde hair). It took about six weeks. We started on 16 January, then it was two weeks of nothing, healing, letting my hair take it in, digest, and recover. It took a long time!"
