JHL Biotech's Wuhan facility, which started operations in 2016, has a current capacity of ~10,000L and is also expanding. Furthermore, CMOs play crucial roles in providing additional capacities to mitigate the risk of supply shortages by offering additional sites for pharmaceutical companies with multisite supply strategies as well as backup capacities. For instance, some industry insiders in China, strongly believe that China can be a destination for this wave of outsourcing. According to BioPlan's analyses of China's biopharma facilities, over 90% of mid-scale and larger biopharmas are planning to expand their own facilities.
