The Jays will be taking over Los Angeles next week.

The MLB announced on Sunday that Toronto Blue Jays star closer Jordan Romano was selected to replace injured New York Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole at the 2022 All-Star Game next Tuesday.

In 34 appearances out of the bullpen this season, the Markham, Ontario native has converted 19 saves, tied for most in the American League, while posting a 2.73 ERA. Romano broke the club record for most consecutive saves converted earlier this season, with the streak coming to an end at 31 after it was broken by the Houston Astros in April.

The 29-year-old is the sixth Blue Jays player to be named to this year's AL All-Star team, joining Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Alejandro Kirk, Alek Manoah and Santiago Espinal in Los Angeles. George Springer was also selected, but will miss the festivities with an elbow injury.

Toronto now ties the Yankees and the Atlanta Braves for the most representatives from a single team in this year's Midsummer Classic.

Chicago White Sox reliever and former Blue Jay Liam Hendriks was also selected as an All-Star replacement, filling in for Astros ace Justin Verlander.
