Bond actor Tanya Roberts' partner discovers she's still alive during TV interview

Watch: The moment Tanya Roberts' boyfriend found out she's still alive!

This is the moment that Lance O'Brien, partner of former Bond star Tanya Roberts, found out that she was not dead.

Tributes had been flooding in on Monday, after it was reported by her publicist that she had died after being admitted to hospital on Christmas Eve.

Roberts had been rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, but due to coronavirus rules, O'Brien had not been allowed to be by her side as her condition had worsened.

But in a stunning turn of events, O'Brien then received word that she was still alive while recording an interview with US magazine show Inside Edition.

“Thank the lord, thank god,” he says, breaking down in tears. “The hospital is telling me she is alive. They are calling me from the ICU team.”

“I'm so happy,” he adds, sobbing.

News emerged on Monday from Roberts' publicist Mike Pingel, who told the press that she'd been taken to hospital on Christmas Eve, after falling ill while walking her two dogs.

She was put on a ventilator, where she had remained ever since.

However, O’Brien, Roberts’ partner of 15 years, has also explained how he thinks the mix up occurred.

Speaking to Page Six, he said that he had been ‘blubbering’ on the phone to Pingel, following what he believed to be an ‘end of life’ visit with Roberts.

“[Pingel] goes, ‘What happened?’ And I say, ‘I just said goodbye to Tanya, and I got to see her beautiful eyes one last time.’ And after that, I’m just blubbering,” O’Brien said.

“Next thing I know, TMZ, OMG, is on my cell phone. I don’t want to blame [Pingel] in any way, shape or form. I was in total shock, and I did say goodbye to her.

“For all intents and purposes, she was gone. She’s been out of it the last three days.’’

O’Brien had described what he thought were his last moments with Roberts to TMZ, saying: “As I held her in her last moments, she opened her eyes. I was able to see her beautiful eyes one last time. Tanya had the most beautiful eyes.”

However, he’s since added that he was told by doctors that Robert opening her eyes was just a reflex, and that she has now been taken off life support.

Pingel told People: “Currently, it's not looking good. It's very dire. Hold her in your prayers.”

Roberts is known for her role as Stacey Sutton in the 1985 Bond movie A View To A Kill, but broke through in movies like cult fantasy The Beastmaster.

She also starred in the final series of Charlie's Angels, and more recently in That 70s Show, alongside emerging talents like Topher Grace, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Laura Prepon.
